This is the first step. Knowing were you belong as a learner simply means that you should identify among the three learning categories which are auditory, kinesthetic, and normal. If you understand most when details are being given oral, you belong to the auditory category, and so on...


2. Stay focused

The lack of concentration or distractions during learning usually restricts understanding. You are expected to focus on the teacher, listen to the teachings with maximum concentration. Avoid getting distracted in between explanations because it can render the whole teaching a waste of time.

3. Act dumb

This is a unique strategy used mostly by the wise. This describes someone pretending to not know anything, he/she remains dumb to absorb the teachings being passed acrossed, then they add the little or more the know to what is being taught for maximum understanding.

4. Break it down into bits

Usually, when complex tutorials occurs, it is advised to personally break these complex details into smaller and smaller details which can easily be understood by anyone. Breaking it down will also teach you how the details operate from scratch. 
This strategy is also called detail deduction. 

5. Don't be shy to ask questions for 
    better clarity

You should not ever find it difficult to ask questions. Asking questions for better clarity is the best thing you'd wanna do. Most times, people tend to get better understanding during one on one tutorials than in groups. 

6. Be dedicated to the teachings

There's no magic attached to this. If your heart is not put into it, your brain won't either. Learning something new is an investment that money cannot instill, and you cannot learn anything when you're not interested in it. 
Try to put your full interest and devotion into what ever you learn.

7. Relate the information to your real life       situations

This one of the most productive ways to getting a better understanding. 
The mistake people make is that they learn to pass tests, exams, etc... But the real learning only begins when you start applying everything you have learnt into full real life situations. 

8. Testing and practicing 

To guarantee long-term understanding, 
You must first practice what you've learnt. Practicing has the ability embed and finalize the tutorials. It is the most reliable way to creating understanding.
